Halloween Kids Craft Guide

By on October 13, 2016

I absolutely LOVE this time of year! I love making fall food, and playing out side (we live in Texas, summer makes for limited outside time with temps over 100′) and making decorations with my kids for all the upcoming holidays. Here is a fun list of Halloween crafts we’ve done and some things I’ve found around pinterest. Please click through to the other blogs to see the details.

Dollar Tree Pumpkin Decorating

We found these styrofoam pumpkins at our local Dollar Tree, and I grabbed a bunch of googly eyes, pipe cleaners and some puffy paint.

Little Monsters from Finding Zest

Another craft you do with just things from The Dollar Tree, Popsicle sticks, pom poms, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners.

Crayon Resist Spider Drawing

This is such a quick and easy craft, just using paper, a white crayon and water colors. I love all the ideas over on Kidsplaybox.    They have great ideas to keep the kids busy and creative. Since my girls are loving arts and crafts time, I know I’ll be pinning tons for the upcoming holiday school breaks this year. Follow them on Pinterest as well for more fun ideas.

Floating Cheesecloth Ghosts by Love and Laundry

We did this project last weekend, super fun and messy! I decided to make bigger ones than the original post did, so instead of putting the balloon on a 2 liter bottle, I put it with our outdoor drink holders you can find them here- perfect for hanging out by the fire pit on summer nights too

I also doubled up the recipe to get two big ghosts, so I used 6 yards of cheesecloth, 4 cups of water and 2 cups of cornstarch and microwaved for about 3 minutes stirring every 45 seconds.  After it all cooled we cut the lengths of cheesecloth and squished the mixture in to the cloth and then draped over the balloons. We did 2 layers to give it a good thickness. They dried in about an hour and we stuck on the felt eyes. The kids love saying hi to the ghosts every day and I’m going to spray them with glow in the dark spray paint to see how it looks at night!

How fun is this? My kids aren’t little anymore, but we used to have great fun with Halloween. All these crafts look fun, and really love the cheesecloth ghosts! I bet they will look great with the glow in the dark spray paint!

  • We found a bunch of these guys in our garden yesterday! Finally our milkweed is bringing all the caterpillars to the yard! Hoping to get a couple in a terrarium so my little entomologist can raise some butterflies! These are Queen- Danaus gilippus caterpillars and are slightly more solid coloring than a monarch but equally beautiful! I love that my kids’ passions have helped me learn new wonderful things about the world 😁#momlife #sahmlife #momblogger #buglife #entomology #kidentomologist #bugscientist #kidscientist
  • If you’ve been following for awhile you’ll know my youngest LOVES bugs! She’s determined to be a big scientist when she grows up! So of course we had to be a spider for Halloween! This was the easiest to DIY. Target had this awesome big spider decoration for $8! The legs bend easily so we just wrapped two legs around her waist and got some spider web leggings with a black shirt! #momlife #sahmlife #halloween #momblogger #diyhalloweencostume #diycostume #familyfun
  • Both girls wanted DIY costumes .... somehow I managed this with clothes we already had and a sharpie!
Check out my DIY Monster High Clawdeen costume on the right! I’m pretty proud of myself! #momlife #halloween #costume #momblog
  • Doing some garage cleaning and my girls find a craft kit from their birthday... and put it all together with out grown up help! I love to see their creative skills :) #momlife #crafting #craftgirls #momblogger #momblog
  • Today I’m 34! It’s been a pretty crazy journey so far and I’m extremely blessed with family and friends ... spending my day relaxing - and then we get to watch my kids play soccer tonight! Here’s to another great year!! #momlife #momblogger #family #birthdaygirl #adulting #soccermom
  • It’s finally feeling like fall here in Texas but I’m thinking back to fun times this summer at our favorite ultra-accessible theme park! @morganswonderlandtexas and inspiration island! I love how everything is so well thought out so all 3 kids can play equally! Can’t wait to get back there for their Delightful not Frightful Halloween event! We go every year and it’s always a blast!! If your ever in San Antonio this park is full of fun for everyone! #sanantonio #familyfunday #sanantoniofamily #momlife #kidlife #specialneeds #specialneedsmom #specialneedskids
